Happy Valentine's Day! We thought we would show YOU some love by releasing our latest update, 2013!
There is very much to talk about. Let's start with the new updates, features, and bug fixes...
---
Batch
- Faster start-up time and external batch splash screen now shows report being run
- Fixed a bug with external XML Updater utility not always using a correct temp directory

- New log file messages that show machine name, Windows user, license expiration, and whether Report Runner is running 64-bit or not (must install 64-bit edition)
- Added a test for Crystal engine at start-up and an error message if it's not installed properly
- Fixed a bug with daterange-based Global Expressions
- Removed MSScriptControl engine used for VBScripting in Global Expressions; we now use a proprietary engine to do the scripting that is safer
- Removed Windows Shell call that was used to create desktop shortcuts to run batches on demand; we now use a proprietary engine that works on all systems
- Updated Licensing Manager; Note: 2013 requires a NEW license key; Your 2012 license will not work in 2013. You need to request your new key before installing 2013

- Event Server buttons will not be disabled if that feature is not authorized
- Windows Run window can now be called from Tools menu
- Windows Search can now be called from Tools, Search feature
- Added Sharepoint Online as Destination Type (available in 64-bit edition only due to API to interface is only available via 64-bit Windows)
- Added a simple batch-specific INI option to override the output file name for email, FTP, and Sharepoint exports (UseThisOutputFileNameForEverythingExceptFileDestinations)

Viewer
- Fixed a bug with certain temp file and log files not being cleaned up properly

- Added a test for Crystal engine at start-up and an error message if it's not installed properly
- Developer edition can now hide title bar (this effectively makes the report viewer slightly larger)
- Added a new technique for determining if reports have records/data or not; the Crystal runtime engine has a bug in it that cause random issues with this
- Updated Licensing Manager; Note: 2013 requires a NEW license key; Your 2012 license will not work in 2013. You need to request your new key before installing 2013
- Corrected web links in Help menu
- Batch image now indicates if you're running x86 edition (32-bit) or x64 edition (64-bit)

- Added error correction to export option prior to mailing (previously certain errors would crash the application)
- Fixed a bug where auto-refresh was taking place before report had loaded correctly the first time
- Developer edition can now "Start" any process via programming the Crystal Reports tool-tip on any object. Simply code the tool-tip (X+2 option) with a string that states "Start WhateverApplicationOrURLYouWantToPutHere". This was added because Crystal Reports validates dynamic URLs, and with this technique, we do not. We will instruct Windows to "start" whatever you want.
- Developer edition can now complete disable error message by setting INI message for ErrorMessage=OFF
- Licensing Manager will now track each machine that gets activated (numerous customers requested we be able to tell them what machines licenses are activated on)
---
Again, important, you need to get a new license key before installling 2013. 2013 will NOT work with your 2012 licensing key. There is no cost to upgrading to 2013 or getting a new licensing key. Also, note there will be no additional upgrades to the 2012 edition. 2013.87 *is* the upgrade path from 2012.61.
---
Lastly, we are making the 64-bit edition to any users that request it. There are no additional costs, and your 2013 licensing key will work in either the 32-bit or 64-bit editions. One more note... the 64-bit edition only works with SQL Server and Oracle and other "large" databases. It will not work with Microsoft Access databases, because there are no 64-bit Microsoft Access drivers available for Crystal Reports.
