User Requirements (Or at Least the Report Runner Administrator Responsible for Setting Up the Software and Supporting the Users Who Don't Have This Knowledge):
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports and how your reports are designed
- Knowledge of the databases your Crystal Reports is connecting to
- Knowledge of your database connections in your reports (DSNs, OLE DB connections, Oracle TNS settings); understand difference between 32-bit DSN and 64-bit DSN
- Knowledge of Windows Explorer, file systems, mapped drives, and UNC paths
- Knowledge of editing text files with Notepad (able to make simple text-based configuration file changes)
- Knowledge of Windows Task Scheduler (if using Report Runner Batch); how to list schedules, view settings, and modify properties
- Knowledge of IIS, App Pools, and deployment of websites (if using Report Runner Web Portal)
The skills above are important, because while we are happy to answer questions about our software, we can't teach these basic skills to everyone who might open a ticket. Someone at your company MUST have this knowledge.
